About the brand
Thistle and Spire is a woman-founded lingerie brand established in Brooklyn in 2015, created to provide both literal and figurative uplift to anyone seeking empowerment. Born from frustration with stale styles and antiquated beauty standards, this intimate intimates company operates with a small 8-member team that remains self-funded and independent from investors. The brand challenges the status quo by embracing every type of beauty and committing to continuous inclusion across size, shape, complexion, sexual orientation, gender, age, and ability. Each piece is meticulously crafted through a hands-on design process in their NYC studio, featuring custom-designed opulent embroidery, intricate strap details, and bespoke accents. Thistle and Spire works with high-quality factories in China, with the founder personally inspecting each facility to ensure safe working conditions. The brand's mission centers on celebrating sensuality and sexuality in style, creating show-stopping, jaw-dropping luxury designs that make wearers feel fearless and unstoppable.

What Thistle and Spire Does With Luxury Lingerie That Most Brands Don't
Thistle and Spire builds its range around the idea that luxury lingerie should work for and adapt to the wearer rather than the other way around. The bodysuits, and lingerie dresses are designed with adjustable straps, custom-designed embroidery, and intricate detailing that is developed entirely in the brand's Brooklyn studio rather than sourced from generic trim suppliers. Each piece is produced to accommodate a genuine range of body proportions, including sizing guidance that directs shoppers to size based on their largest measurement rather than defaulting to standard fit assumptions. Buyers with larger chests and muscular builds consistently note that the adjustability makes the fit work across proportions that most lingerie brands fail to address. The Minna lace styles and velvet pieces are the most praised for material quality across community reviews.
Why Thistle and Spire Has Built a Loyal Following in the Luxury Lingerie Market
Founded in 2015 by a woman-led team of eight that remains self-funded and independent, Thistle and Spire has stayed outside the investor that shapes most lingerie brands at this price point, which gives it the freedom to develop sizing and design without commercial compromise. The range on Plush covers tops and dresses alongside the core lingerie, with pieces that cross over from intimate wear into statement outerwear styling. The brand's commitment to inclusive sizing across shape, complexion, and body type is structural rather than aspirational, with each new collection adding band and cup sizes as a standard operational step rather than a seasonal add-on. For shoppers comparing luxury lingerie brands at a similar price point, Fleur du Mal, CULTNAKED, Fait Par Foutch, and self-portrait are worth comparing on Plush.
Frequently Asked Questions
Thistle and Spire recommends sizing based on your largest body measurement rather than your usual size, which is the most important thing to know before ordering. The bodysuits fit short torsos well and the adjustable straps accommodate a range of proportions. Shoppers with a larger top and smaller bottom, or vice versa, should check the size guide on each individual product as fit varies across styles. The bra styles with V-cuts run narrower through the back on larger cup sizes, so sizing up is the safer choice on those specific styles.
Thistle and Spire sits in the accessible luxury lingerie category, with most pieces ranging from $60 for individual pieces to $150 for sets and bodysuits. The custom-designed embroidery and intricate strap detailing are developed in-house rather than sourced from standard trim suppliers, which gives the pieces a distinctiveness at the price point that most comparable brands cannot match. The Minna lace styles and velvet pieces represent the strongest value in the range.
The range covers intimate wear through to statement pieces that cross into outerwear styling. The bodysuits work as both lingerie and as tops styled with skirts or trousers for going-out dressing. The lingerie sets and embellished styles are designed for intimate occasions and special dressing. The velvet and lace dresses step up for evening and event styling.
Fleur du Mal works at a similar price point with a more editorial, fashion-forward approach to luxury lingerie and ready-to-wear crossover. CULTNAKED shares the underwear-as-outerwear philosophy with a bolder, vegan leather and party-focused aesthetic. Fait Par Foutch and self-portrait offer a comparable lace and intricate detail-forward approach applied to ready-to-wear occasion dressing. Thistle and Spire is the most adjustability-focused and inclusivity-driven of the group, with the strongest custom embroidery and in-house detailing programme.
