I have yet to find a Saucony carbon-plated shoe that my foot hasn't loved. They find the perfect balance of cushion and being able to feel the road for a stable ride. This sensation is especially true when completing tempo efforts as the shoe glides across the ground somehow being responsive and cushy without being hard and mushy.

The Saucony Ride 18 felt very cushioned and lighter than previous generations. I enjoyed the cushioned ride and how light they were making fast turnover much easier. They felt comfortable for longer runs up to 10 to 15 miles at a time. I think their sweet spot is in the 5 to 10 mile range for easy midweek mileage.

The Saucony Guide is one of the most established stability shoes on the market, but you can hardly accuse the latest version of being behind the times. The shoe is reasonably tall with a wide base that cradles your foot, offering stability without hampering flexibility.

The Size 15 Runner

Up top is a breathable engineered mesh that only bolsters Saucony's reputation for extremely comfy uppers. This is one of the coziest uppers you'll find. It hugs my feet well without suffocating them, and there's ample room in the toe box.

Road Trail Run

This is a dependable workhorse of a daily trainer that responds nicely to faster paces but excels on those daily runs of moderate mileage. The PWRRUN+ midsole adds some snappiness and pep to the equation, and the upper has been refined to be the best yet : secure and comfortable. RIDE lovers of the past will continue to love this new version, because if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I'm on my third pair of Integrity Walker 3s, and I cannot rave enough about these shoes! I used to work at a clinic and was on my feet all day. My feet would be so sore at the end of each workday, until I found these shoes. They are super lightweight, supportive, and durable. They are also true to size.

Saucony took a cautious approach with the Guide 18, refining the upper for an ultra-breathable design while making only minor tweaks to flexibility and materials. We tested it extensively and found that while it remains a solid choice for stability seekers, Saucony missed a real opportunity to enhance the outsole and upgrade the foam.

The fit is roomy with a very wide base and plenty of room in the toebox, lockdown was great and that's something I often struggle with unless I heel lock. The laces are pretty short so it would be tough to heel lock anyway. My main gripe about the fit is the non-gusseted tongue, which slides out of position on my (somewhat wonky) right foot requiring me to readjust.

With stability shoes in 2024 becoming more and more premium thanks to upgraded foams in almost every model across the board, the PWRRUN that I didn't mind in Version 17 suddenly felt a little dated in Version 18.
