Born in 1964 in Damour, Lebanon, Saab began designing at age nine, creating dresses for his sisters using newspaper patterns and fabric scraps from his mother's closet. At just 18, he opened his first atelier in Beirut in 1982, initially specializing in bridal couture. Saab gained international recognition when Halle Berry wore his burgundy embroidered gown to accept her Oscar in 2002, making him the first Lebanese designer to dress an Academy Award winner.
